Accessing Hilfield Park Reservoir
Hilfield Park Reservoir is owned by Three Valleys Water and managed as a Nature Reserve by Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust (HMWT).
There is no general public access to the Reserve.
HMWT members may obtain a temporary key to the Reserve from the Trust Office - Grebe House, St Michael’s Street, St. Albans – tel. no. 01727 858901.
Alternatively, viewing of the reservoir is possible from a viewing platform (located at TL160961) reached by a signposted footpath from Hogg Lane opposite Elstree Aerodrome. Hogg Lane is off Dagger Lane. There is public parking at the nearby Aldenham Country Park - price £4 (2006).
Some parts of the reservoir can also be viewed from the footbridge over the M1 opposite Hilfield Lane.
Nb. No more than two people may accompany a temporary key-holder.
